A Letter from our Vice President of Philanthropy:
My name is Sami Magee, and I’m so excited and honored to be serving on Alpha Nu’s 2023 Executive Board as the Vice President of Philanthropy. In this position, I lead members in our philanthropic and service goals, specifically in supporting our national philanthropy, Domestic Violence Awareness. I also am able to share our passion and love for our beneficiary, True North of Columbia, with the rest of the PHA and Mizzou community.
We are so lucky to be able to do hands-on work with True North, as well as raise money, promote awareness, and educate ourselves and the community about domestic violence. In my term, I’m excited to create exciting events for our members and the community to raise awareness for domestic violence, and money for True North.
During my own recruitment journey, I was so inspired by the love and passion that filled the room in Alpha Chi. Behind the little red door on Richmond Ave are passionate, real, strong women who strive to be the best versions of themselves. It is such an honor to lead these women in our goals to support those impacted by domestic violence and help make our community more educated and empowered.
Peace and Love (& LITB),
Sami Magee
Our Local Beneficiary
True North of Columbia

Our beneficiary is a local shelter called True North, and it is the only residential facility in Boone County that supports the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. This shelter provides survivors with safety, shelter, education, and transitional support for those who have been affected by domestic and sexual violence.
The goal of True North is to provide all victims with safe housing, advocacy, and support. This advocacy and support may encompass initial contact through continuous counseling, protection, housing assistance, and appropriate legal actions.
